Heat Sink

Custom Heat Sink Manufacturer in China

The GALLOP INNOTEK heat sink is a plate, sheet, or multi-piece device used to dissipate heat from an electronic device. It is often fixed on the heating element and transfers the heat generated when the heating element works. It maintains the temperature of your equipment in the normal range, thus ensuring the normal operation of your equipment.

How does a Heat Sink Work?

GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks dissipate heat mainly through heat transfer. Use a thermally conductive adhesive to secure it to the heating element. Thermally conductive adhesive transfers heat to the heat sink efficiently. GALLOP INNOTEK Heat sinks increase the efficiency of heat dissipation by providing surface area. Heat is automatically transferred from the high-temperature area to the low-temperature area inside the heat sink.  Finally, the heat is transferred to the surroundings, reducing the temperature of the equipment.

Heat Sink Advantages

Improved Performance: The components of your equipment generate significant heat when operating, especially under high loads. If it is left in a hot state for a prolonged period, the overheating protection of electronic devices actively reduces performance to prevent the device from overheating. Your device can even die. And GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks can effectively solve this problem.

Improved Reliability: Many components inside electronic devices cannot withstand prolonged operation at high temperatures. Otherwise, they can be easily damaged and fail, rendering the device inoperable. GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks can improve the reliability of your products.

Extended Lifespan: Equipment operating at high temperatures for prolonged periods can significantly reduce the service life of components and even cause damage. Therefore, heat sinks are needed to cool down and extend the life of your equipment.

Reduced Noise: Passive heat sinks do not require a fan to actively dissipate heat and transfer it to the air. Therefore, GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks can reduce the noise of your equipment to a certain extent.

Cost Savings: GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks provide superior cooling performance at a fraction of the cost, extending the life of your equipment and reducing equipment repair and replacement costs.

Compatibility: GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks maximize performance while minimizing weight and reducing space constraints. You can also customise the shape and size of the radiator to perfectly match your application.

Heat Sink Materials

  • Copper Heat Sinks: Copper boasts exceptionally high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, enabling excellent heat dissipation. You can use it for applications with high heat dissipation needs and in harsher environments, but there are drawbacks to consider. A copper heat sink is three times heavier than an aluminum one, making it unsuitable for use in a portable device. Plus, it will cost you more, twice as much as aluminum.
  • Aluminum Heat Sinks: Aluminum is a popular material for heat sinks due to its low cost and high thermal conductivity. It is very lightweight and achieves greater mechanical strength compared to copper, despite being as thin as it is. It is also easy to machine. But it doesn’t conduct heat as well as copper, about half as well. Therefore, if you are seeking the ultimate in heat dissipation, copper is a better choice.

Heat Sink Types

  • Extruded Heat Sinks: The raw material is placed into a mould at high temperatures and extruded under high pressure to produce an extruded heat sink. Extruded heat sinks are flexible in design. You can customise complex shapes, and the resulting heat sinks have a good surface finish. It is also less expensive than other processes.
  • Bonded Heat Sinks: Bonded radiators consist of a base and fins. A plurality of fins is bonded to the base using a thermally conductive epoxy resin, and the fins can be made from different materials. For example, a combination of copper and aluminium fins can be used to achieve high heat dissipation while controlling weight.
  • Skived Heat Sinks: Skived heat sinks utilize a spade-tooth prop to repeatedly cut the substrate, creating dense and ultra-thin fins. You can use it in space-constrained installations at a fraction of the cost.
  • Stamped Heat Sinks: Stamped heat sinks are dimensionally accurate but have thicker fins. It is very low cost, but the heat dissipation effect is average. You’d better not use it for higher power devices
  • Forged Heat Sinks: Forged heat sinks are produced through cold forging and hot forging, which involves forging under high pressure. Forged heat sinks have low thermal resistance, excellent heat dissipation, and high mechanical strength.
  • CNC-Machined Heat Sinks: CNC processes are complex. You can use them to achieve customised radiators with ultra-complex shapes and high precision requirements. But they will cost you more.

Heat Sink Applications

  • Electronic Devices: GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks used in electronics such as mobile phones, tablets, and computers achieve fast heat dissipation and increase the reliability of your products. Computer CPUs and GPUs also require heatsinks to maintain stable performance and extend service life.
  • Automotive: If you are looking for the right cooling solution for your car, GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks can be used for automotive power modules, car controllers, and battery cooling, protecting the entire automotive system to maintain a normal operating temperature range.
  • LED Lighting: High-power LED lighting generates significant heat when in operation and can impact the brightness and service life of the LED. Using GALLOP INNOTEK heat sinks can achieve efficient cooling for you.
  • Soldering: When soldering some electronic components, the heat generated by the soldering can damage temperature-sensitive components. Therefore, you should use a GALLOP INNOTEK heat sink on your soldering machine to absorb excess heat in a timely manner, minimizing component damage.
How Do I Mount a Heat Sink?

Heat sinks need to be fixed to the component using a thermally conductive adhesive. This not only provides holding power but also enhances thermal conductivity. You need to apply or stick the thermal adhesive on the surface of the component and then press the heat sink onto it to securely mount it for heat dissipation.

Can I Use More than One Heat Sink on a Single Device?

If one heatsink can’t support your high-powered device, you can combine multiple heatsinks for even greater heat dissipation.

How to Choose the Right Heat Sink?

You should consider the thermal conductivity, space constraints of the equipment, lightweighting requirements and the application environment to select the right heat sink. In addition, GALLOP INNOTEK offers high-quality customised heat sinks. You can send your requirements to get the matching heat sink.
