Features of Copper Foil Roll

High conductivity and extremely low resistance form a persistently stable conductive layer, effectively absorbing and reflecting interfering electromagnetic waves.

Can be integrated with a variety of materials, suitable for functional conductive layers in composite structures.

Various types are available for selection. Different surface finishes are also offered. Thickness, width, and coil length can be customised.

Ultra-thin copper foil coils are available for equipment requiring compact, high-density designs and lightweight construction.
Designed for Automated & Roll-to-Roll Manufacturing
Coil lengths may exceed one kilometre, making it suitable for continuous production. This minimises downtime for material changes, thereby helping you to achieve satisfactory efficiency. It also facilitates efficient material utilisation, reducing waste and yielding higher output. This proves highly cost-effective for large-scale processing.

Lower Total Cost for Mass Production
On the one hand, the initial cost of copper foil rolls is lower than that of copper foil sheets, requiring a smaller budget. On the other hand, copper foil rolls offer higher material utilisation, further reducing procurement costs. Moreover, we provide bespoke services and one-to-one support from model selection through to pre-installation, minimising significant losses caused by incorrect selection or operational errors.
Applications of Copper Foil Roll

Electromagnetic interference shielding layers for mobile phones, computers, cameras, and other devices to enhance reliability

It can be processed into electromagnetic shielding tape for use in electronic enclosure grounding, conductive shielding layers, etc.

Mass production for electromagnetic slip rings and energy storage systems, helping with continuous operation. It can also reduce energy consumption.

Benefiting from their lightweight construction and resistance to bending, they can withstand the flexing design of flexible printed circuit boards.

Using copper foil rolls in industrial electrical and automation equipment prevents downtime and failure risks, enhancing industrial safety and production efficiency.

Copper foil rolls are utilised in vehicle electronics, control units, and powertrain systems to improve signal accuracy and achieve more stable operation

Copper foil rolls effectively reflect electromagnetic interference in communications and avionics equipment, preventing signal distortion.
Their manufacturing processes differ: ED copper foil coils are produced via electrochemical deposition, whereas RA copper foil coils are fabricated through rolling and annealing processes. They also have differences in surface roughness, thickness, and cost.
Both are roll materials and their applications are different. Copper foil rolls can measure up to several thousand metres in length and are used for continuous processing in industrial settings. Copper foil tape, conversely, constitutes a compact material frequently utilised as a temporary solution in maintenance tasks and DIY projects. For industrial-grade electromagnetic interference shielding and automated production, copper foil rolls are the better solution.
Yes. Copper foil rolls feature continuous lengths and uniform thickness, making them highly suitable for automated industrial production lines and enhancing production efficiency. Moreover, they consistently offer the same quality in different batches while minimising material wastage.
What is the Copper Foil Roll?
For ease of transportation and subsequent processing, copper foil is typically formed into continuous coils, sheets, cut pieces, and other formats. Thinner copper foil is typically manufactured as copper foil rolls (3–35μm). These offer excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, serving functions such as electrical conduction, electromagnetic shielding, and heat dissipation in many industries, including automotive and electronics. Compared to individual copper foil sheets, copper foil rolls are better suited for continuous processing, achieving higher processing efficiency in high-volume production lines.
Types of Copper Foil Roll
Electrolytic Copper Foil Roll and Rolled Annealed Copper Foil Roll
Depending on the manufacturing process, copper foil rolls can be classified as electrolytic copper foil rolls and rolled copper foil rolls.
- Electrolytic(ED) Copper Foil Roll: Electrolytic copper foil rolls are produced by electrochemically depositing high-purity copper material into foil sheets, which are then rolled into coils. This method offers superior thickness control and lower cost compared to rolled copper foil. Due to its rougher surface, it is advisable for products needing high adhesion, such as electromagnetic shielding tape and PCB laminates.
- Rolled Annealed(RA) Copper Foil Roll: Rolled copper foil is manufactured through repeated mechanical rolling and annealing. Although its production is more complex and costly, it offers superior flexibility, resistance to bending, and a smoother surface finish. This allows you to use it in flexible printed circuit boards, bendable assemblies, and similar applications.
High Purity Copper Foil Roll
High-purity copper foil rolls are made from copper of superior purity, containing virtually no alloying elements such as silver, tin, or zinc, with a copper content of 99.9%. This significantly reduces the impact of impurities on their performance, resulting in ultra-low electrical resistance and outstanding thermal conductivity. They demonstrate enhanced stability and durability in electromagnetic shielding and heat dissipation applications. These foils are suitable for precision equipment, high-performance electronics, semiconductor components, and similar applications.
Ultra-Thin Copper Foil Roll
Ultra-thin copper foil rolls measure approximately 3 to 9μm in thickness, and can even be thinner. Compared to standard copper foil rolls, they not only save space and weight but also offer equally outstanding performance. Furthermore, they have better bend resistance compared to common copper foil, with reduced fatigue and fracture. For densely packed designs and miniature devices, ultra-thin copper foil rolls are the ideal choice. Their application is particularly well-suited for batteries, high-density flexible circuit boards, and portable devices.
Adhesive-Backed Copper Foil Rolls
Copper foil has good processing characteristics and can be bonded to adhesive layers to get better adhesion strength. The protective liner may be removed directly for application without additional adhesives, thereby improving high-volume processing efficiency. Conductive adhesive-backed copper foil rolls and non-conductive adhesive-backed copper foil rolls are available. Conductive adhesive-backed copper foil rolls are suitable for EMI and RFI shielding, grounding connections, and similar applications. Non-conductive adhesive-backed rolls are best for applications where high conductivity is not required.
Copper Foil Roll VS Copper Foil Sheet
Copper foil rolls are supplied in continuous lengths, whereas copper foil sheets are typically pre-cut into fixed-size individual sheets. We can precisely cut its sizes and shapes to your product. Consequently, they are better suited for prototyping and precision machining.
Feature Comparison
Firstly, copper foil rolls are typically thinner, ranging from approximately 3–35 μm. Copper foil sheets, however, are generally manufactured from thicker copper foil (9–70 μm). Both of them offer multiple thickness options. Secondly, copper foil rolls feature continuous lengths, allowing non-stop processing during high-volume production runs. Copper foil sheets, conversely, are supplied in fixed dimensions. You can customise it according to your product.
Processing Capabilities
Copper foil sheets offer greater processing flexibility compared to copper foil rolls. Thickness, shape, and dimensions can all be changed for specific applications. They support processing methods such as stamping, etching, and CNC machining. For small-batch precision designs and custom prototyping, they are the best choice. Copper foil rolls, processed via roll-to-roll methods, lamination, coating, and laminating, are better suited for high-volume production and continuous manufacturing.
Performance Comparison
Beyond differences in supply format, both copper foil rolls and copper foil sheets boast excellent electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and extremely low thermal resistance. They perform identical heat dissipation and electromagnetic shielding functions, though their suitable applications differ. Copper foil rolls are commonly used in flexible printed circuits, lithium battery current collectors, EMI shielding tapes, and composite materials. Copper foil sheets, however, are better suited for printed circuit boards (PCBs), precision stamped components, and grounding plates.
